TURKS AND CAICOS

Da conch shack bar/restaurant

I’ve been a bit late in posting these past weeks after i went back from vacations

I needed a nice break from work and felt like not going too far from New York to enjoy every day of vacation as much as possible. Turks and Caicos looked like the perfect location, only about 3 hours from New York and no jet lag. It was my first time at the Carribean and not be cliché, it really looks like paradise, beautiful and warm water, with no much tourists at this time of the year.
I had a really nice stay at The Regent Palms and the everyday routine was no much more than exploring the beach and pool.

There are no much restaurants in the isle and everything tends to be a bit pricy due to the local tax and importation. but you can have a nice time every thursday at the fish fry, where you can try a lot of their local food and really good coconut rum that you drink directly from the coconut.

A really cute bar too, is the Da conch shake, located on the leeward side of the  island right on the beach, a rum bar that serves really good local food as well in a really cute set.

Definitly recommend to go and try as it’s a perfect location even for a small week end outside the crazy city.

WHITNEY MUSEUM

Georgia O 'Keeffe - Abstraction

Franz Kline

Robert Morris

Keith Sonnier - Ba-O-Ba, Number 3, 1969

Dorothea Rockburne - drawing which makes itself

Hans Haacke

Glenn Ligon - Rückenfigur, 2009

Robert Mapplethorpe - American flag, 1977

I finally managed to find time to go visit the Whitney museum along with my coworkers.

Located in New York, Meatpacking, the museum has two floors for the permanent collection, and a special exhibitions gallery on the top floor and offers modern and contemporary American art.

The museum is spacious and light and i appreciated that it’s not full of little art pieces that sometimes can give you headache to focus on.
Big pieces of art are mostly all together in a big space and it leaves you enough distance to be able to admire it.
We could also enjoy the very nice view buy taking the outside stairs when switching from one floor to another.

I could enjoy seing some of my favorite artistes from Rothko, to Robert Mapplehthorpe and get inspired and ready to sketch the fall collection.
