DIY CONVERSE - CANVAS SHOES

I recently was on my way to get new navy Converse when i decided to try to dye my old ones that were in a nice but not easy teal color.

I’m pretty happy with the result and i found it now really cool and easy to dye any pair of sneakers of the color of your choice. Even better if you find some cheap white trainers and want to dye them yourself.

I dyed them heavenly (although my bucket wasn’t big enough so the heel is not 100% dyed but i kind of like the indigo effect it gives to it).

You can also be imaginative and try more crazy dye effect, half dye, 2 colors etc

Here is below how i have proceeded for mine.

You will need:

-Hand dye (i used DYLON as picture)

-bucket

-1 cup salt - hot water

Start by putting 6 liters (25 cups) of hot water in your bucket. Add 250ml (1 cup) of salt and stir.

Beside in another bowl, mix 1/2 liter (2 1/4 cups) of hot water with your dye powder or liquid.

Dissolve the dye solution into the salt solution and stir again.

Wet your shoes under water before starting or pre wash them to make sure the dye will stay, and put then in the bucket, make sure they are completely under water.

Let dye for about 45 minutes. Rince under water and wash them in the washing machine with a bit of detergent.

I was scared the plastic parts would also be tinted so i covered them with some plastic tape while in the dye solution. Some people use some wax too that will protect the plastic being tinted. If some plastic part are affected, you can clean them with a mix of hot water, baking soda and white vinegar. Scrub it and rinse with warm water.

ACNE STUDIOS

I love the color palette of Acne Studios woman collection for fall winter and keep going to their Soho store to try more and more articles. Love the nude pink mixed with the burgundy.

I'm always wondering if i should buy this heavy and warm Powder parka for New York cold days, which should arrive soon enough…

Acne Studios has also finally unveiled its first collection of bags, all made in Italy in really nice quality leather.
Each bag comes in pop colors and neutrals for a most discreet look.
I’m even more proud of the collection launch as my french friend Faustine is the designer.

Have a look at their website for a closer look at the whole collection.

ACNE STUDIOS SS16

All pics from vogue.com

Proud of my friend who designed all the handbags for Acne Studios SS16, showed in Paris. The brand didn’t have really have a proper handbags or accessories line so i’m glad she could joined the team a few seasons ago and offer her talent to the brand.

RICHARD HAINES

A few days ago i went to see the small but charming exhibition of Richard Haines at Daniel Cooney gallery in New York.
After he moved to New York in 1975 for his illustration career, Richard Haines instead found a successful career as a fashion designer.
He collaborates with brands like Calvin Klein, Dries van Noten and Prada.

NICOLAS ANDREAS TARALIS STORE AND SHOWROM

I'm really proud of my friend Nicolas who just opened his first store in Beijing and also designed his own amazing showroom in Shanghai.
Nicolas worked with Bernard Dubois, a belgian architect for a perfect minimalist design.

Nicolas and I have been friends for almost 15 years now and we have been working together for some long years.
Starting Nicolas 's line with just the two of us allowed me to have this special feelings and attachment to his brand.
During all these years that we worked together, I learned under Nicolas that every detail is important and how to be precise at every step at the collection. Today again I kept this minimalist and precise aesthetic and like to control every aspect of my design and collection .

I love and miss the energy we had and gave for every fashion show we worked on and wish him the best for the next projects to come.
